This week we are working on a house rewire in Phibsboro North Dublin. The house has been stripped out and we have run temporary supplies while a full refit is carried out. The original house and wiring are pretty old and so a rewire was the only option. There have been many little changes to domestic wiring in the last few years and it is important that we keep up to date with this. For instance your bathroom lighting circuit now has to be on its own RCBO. A 10 amp MCB is no longer enough. This is also the case for outside lights.
Eventually every circuit will need to be on an RCD, but its not yet required.
Your fuseboard cannot be under a wooden stairs. Many old houses would fail an inspection on that.
In your kitchen, undercounter machines have to have an isolating spur above the counter. It is also advisable that your freezer is not on the common RCD. It is advised that you put it on its own RCBO.
