We just did a routine fuseboard upgrade this morning in Lucan, County Dublin.
All went well. The house is about 25 years old and the wiring was in reasonable condition but obviously at the very least a new fuseboard is essential. We pulled out the old board and slotted in a two row Ganz Consumer unit. We also put down a new earth rod and ran 10 square earth cable to the hot press and boiler for safety. All circuits were fully tested and all readings recorded. The main tails from the meter to the fuseboard were upgraded to 16 square cable. This is essential in older houses and should not be overlooked when upgrading the board. As professionals we would always advise people to avoid the nixer merchants. The chances are your system won’t get the inspection it needs. The tails won’t be upgraded and you won’t receive a certificate for the works. At Appin Security & Electrical Services our customers are provided with an ECSSA certificate on completion of works. Our work is subject to auditing by this body, and so the customer has the peace of mind that the work is up to the highest standards.
If you still have an old fuseboard in your house or business and are worried about its safety don’t hesitate to call us for a quote. The best way to avoid electrical fires is to upgrade the board and make sure your electrician inspects the whole system.
We are at your service through-out Kildare, Dublin, Meath and and all of Leinster.
We had our fuse board updated a few months back by Appin Security & Electrical Services. The job was done professionally. We have used Appin Security & Electrical Services for other jobs around our house and business. We would recommend Appin for any electrical work.
